Brown Bag Speaker Series at Hitchcock Academy

Hitchcock welcomes its next Brown Bag Speaker Series installation – The Brimfield Historical Commission’s Mike DeFalco will present “Brown Bag Speaker Series: Brimfield’s Historic Downtown”. The talk will begin at 12:30pm with an optional lunch at noon. Attendees may reserve a lunch ahead of time or bring one in. Reservations are required for both ($10 for the talk and an additional $10 for the optional lunch). The talk will likely run approximately one hour, and additional time is reserved for questions and discussion.
Take a sitting tour of the Common from the comfort of Hitchcock Academy. Learn about the historic buildings and monuments that make up Brimfield’s Historic District. Do you know about the privy in the Town Hall, the Academy students that died in WWI, the original use of the Town’s newly acquired Windmill and why the Bed & Breakfast at 8 North Main Street is named after Elias Carter? No need for comfortable shoes; you can walk through 300 years of Brimfield history without ever leaving your seat.
“We are fortunate to have a historian who is equally passionate about Brimfield’s history as he is willing to give of his time and knowledge,” says Executive Director Cindy Skowyra. “Mike brings unrivaled curiosity, and is well-researched in his storytelling. We’re looking forward to this talk.”
The Brown Bag Speaker Series is presented with support from The Shirley Frye Memorial Fund.
