Credit Assistant
QVCDC is a non-profit community development organization located in Ware, Massachusetts that serves the Quaboag Region. QVCDC is an alternative small business lender. QVCDC offers an array of programs to support small businesses and benefit low-income residents by reducing unemployment, providing education and career training, and creating job opportunities. POSITION TITLE: CREDIT ASSISTANT (Part Time Bookkeeper) Job Type: In Office – 25-30 hours weekly Location: 23 West Main Street, Ware, MA POSITION SUMMARY: The Credit Assistant will work closely with the Fiscal Manager on daily accounting functions and loan servicing activities. These include entries into QuickBooks and loan servicing software. Tasks also include assisting with budget tracking of funding and various project expenses (using QuickBooks & Excel). Specific areas of responsibility of the Credit Assistant are: • Regular data entry into QuickBooks and Excel Spreadsheets. • Generate monthly transaction reports for invoicing and expense tracking. Issue monthly invoices and collection letters to borrowers. Call borrowers to remind them of payments or delinquencies. • Record payments in loan servicing software and QuickBooks and make deposits. • On a monthly basis, reconcile these two systems through QuickBooks’ Loan Clearing Account and post activity to individual asset accounts. • Report borrowers’ credit history monthly using Credit 2000 software • Perform reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts. • Disburse funds to borrowers post-closing and assist with documentation • Set up borrower files and maintain all loan and loan-related files in good order. • Prepare year-end workpapers for auditors. • Assist with grant funding reports. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Degree in Business Administration & Finance or Accounting preferred • Proficiency with QuickBooks (desktop version), MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook. • Experience working in a business office • Additional directly-related experience may be substituted for education. • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and/or loan servicing a plus • Have a good understanding and knowledge of accounting and business operations. • Excellent math, analytical and organizational skills, able to multi-task. • Attention to detail, sound professional judgement and discretion, flexibility, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Have excellent communication, organizational and record-keeping skills. • Valid driver’s license and use of a reliable vehicle SALARY DESCRIPTION: Starting hourly rate: $19 - $22 (commensurate with experience) BENEFITS: • Paid time off (up to 10 vacation days and up to 10 sick days for the first year, plus twelve holidays) • Subsidized Health & Dental Insurance after 90 days (for employees working at least 30 hours per week) • CORE Retirement Plan with Employer Match • Flexible Hours/Days PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
